Longhorn Fashions
The project:
Longhorn Fashions, launched in 2010 by a fellow Texas Spirits pledge class member, is an Austin boutique that embodies fashion-forward University of Texas game days. As the shop evolved from an eCommerce platform to an airstream boutique, and finally to a staple brick-and-mortar store near campus, I had the honor of assisting with various ad-hoc branding projects. One notable project was creating a custom sign for trade show events.
The sign needed to be lit, shaped like Texas, and feature the Longhorn Fashions logo. To bring this vision to life, I used a jigsaw to cut the shape of Texas out of wood. I then drilled evenly spaced holes along the perimeter to attach a strand of globe string lights, allowing for easy bulb replacement as needed. Finally, I hand-painted the logo. The initial version featured simple cursive text, and when the Longhorn Fashions logo was later updated, I repainted the entire piece, incorporating the new font and intricate flower details.
